The King Stag was a step in a new direction for Offshoot Productions. Director Amy Enrich-Selby skillfully guided the apprentice cast of Winter-Spring 1998 in the art of commedia del l'arte, a style of Italian comedy employing delightful physical humor and lavish masks or makeup for a flavor of humor that is totally unique. All masks were designed and created by the apprentices themselves. One sketch for the mask of Brighella, one of the 'zanni' of comedia del l'arte, is presented here.
