Registration Open for Summer Drama Camps

Offshoot's Next Classes to be held in Peachtree City

Four lively acting classes will be offered by Offshoot Productions through the Peachtree City Recreation Department.

The first two classes are designed for homeschoolers. At 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays, beginning January 9, the 5-session Kids Creating Characters for children ages 6 to 9 will use creative dramatics and theatre games to guide youngsters in building characters, establishing relationships, and gaining confidence on stage. Participants will give a demonstration for invited guests during the last class. The cost is $40.

Acting in an Ensemble

, for ages 10 to 16, will run on Mondays, 1 to 2:15 p.m., for 6 weeks beginning January 28. With a fee of $48, the class will employ "story theatre" scripts and improvisational techniques to create theatre wherein the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts. Participants will perform for invited guests during the last class.

All about Acting

, geared to youngsters in grades 2 to 5, will meet from 3 to 3:50 p.m. on Thursdays for 4 weeks, beginning February 28. The class, which costs $32, will introduce participants to acting basics through improvisation, theatre games and script work. This class has proven a big hit with young actors who have little or no prior theatre experience.

Finally,

Scenes for Teens I

will be held on Tuesdays, from 4 to 5:15 p.m., for 5 weeks beginning February 26. Designed for students in grades 6 through 12, the class will use scripted material and improvisation as teens learn how to create believable characters and the "illusion of the first time." This class, which costs $42, is appropriate for both newcomers to theatre and those with prior experience.
